Is Acesulfame K Vegan?

Acesulfame K, which is used to provide sweetness in foods and beverages without additional calories, is an artificial sweetener.

Acesulfame K, also called high-intensity sweeteners, low-calorie sweeteners, low-calorie and no-calorie sweeteners, non-nutritive sweeteners or sugar substitutes, was first approved for use in Europe in 1983. It is about 200 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar).

Acesulfame is a potassium mineral salt. Therefore, it does not contain any animal ingredients. Acesulfame K is both vegetarian and vegan.
